Waltham Forest Labour rallies to Chingford

Waltham Forest Labour Councillors turned out on Saturday to meet many local residents in Highams Park. Together with Bilal, residents had a chance to talk about both local ways to build a stronger community and their concerns about what's happening nationallyIMAG0123_1.jpg

Around a dozen Labour Party activists joined the Prospective Parliamentary Candidate Bilal Mahmood on Saturday while met residents in South Highams Park. Over the course a warm and pleasant morning, volunteers met several families with concerns about the NHS, and in particular the growth of waiting times since 2010. Housing and transport also were major talking points.

"Boris Johnson had promised a meagre 47,000 new homes for Londoners. He hasn't even come close, with new built houses last year nearer to the 17,000 mark. I'm proud of London, but a city needs to house its inhabitants. That's why Labour has promised 200,000 new homes by 2020."

Over the course of the campaign, Bilal and the Labour team (including many Waltham Forest Councillors) are keen to engage with as many local residents as possible, to make sure his campaign is relevant to the people of Chingford and Woodford Green.
