My Pledges

  • Fighting for Our NHS. I'll fight for much-needed improvement at Whipps Cross Hospital locally and fight nationally to join up the NHS and social services.

  • Supporting Local Businesses. I still believe Britain's brightest future is working with European countries and trading in the single market. I'll fight for the best Brexit deal for local businesses and what's in the best interest for all Londoners by fighting against a secret, unplanned Hard Brexit.

  • Protecting Our Schools. An education is the most powerful tool to empower future generations. Slashing funding to education and creating division amongst young people damages our future. I'll stand up for our schools against damaging Tory cuts and push for reducing class sizes.

  • Making Work Pay. Half the jobs in Chingford and Woodford Green pay living below the living wage. That is a shocking statistic. Labour will raise the minimum wage to meet the living wage of £10 an hour over the next five years. We will focus on getting people out of welfare into stable jobs, rather than abandoning them.

  • Building a Stronger Generation. This Government is creating a lost generation of young talent, who are struggling to find a meaningful future. This is an attack on the social mobility work I have helped on in the past ten years. That is why I’m committed to social mobility and campaigning for paid vocational internships for young people.
  • Housing and Renting. The lack of affordable housing in London is creating a city unaffordable for its residents. Even worse, over time, this will lead to disconnected, rental-based communities. That’s why I’m a strong supporter of campaigning on building affordable, sustainable homes for Londoners and tackling unfair renting terms. Locally, I want to make sure that renters are protected against eye-watering rent increases and absentee landlords.
  • Defending Local Pensioners. I'll campaign to keep the triple-lock on pensions and the winter fuel allowance, protecting the future of the elderly.
